So much to read, so little time! I almost wish for some magical way I could complete one book every day!
The Great Indian Festival sale on Amazon meant I landed up buying a tonne more books so now my TBR pile is a virtual tower of 5000 tomes probably. And that’s after resisting the temptation to buy many more that I wanted to!
This time I’ve leaned more towards humour, the gentle one of Alexander McCall Smith and the more laugh-out-loud quips one can only get from chick-lit.
This is the next in the 44 Scotland Street series after The Bertie Project. I’ve loved this series right from the first book, each character growing and developing and following a different but interesting arc.
This is one of those books that I dip into at random when I’m between books, because there’s always some nugget of advice to be gleaned from it. Chuck Wendig dispenses plenty of writing-related one-liners on his blog too, and I believe this is a compilation of the posts on his blog. He tells it like it is, and sometimes I just need that no-nonsense advice and inspiration to spur me on my journey.
More than twenty years ago, I read Bridget Jones’ Diary and cried with laughter. I also read the sequel The Edge of Reason, then I watched and loved the resulting movies. The original book triggered the genre of chick-lit, and even if in some ways its no more than a modern Pride and Prejudice I love it with a passion. Last year I saw the movie Bridget Jones’ Baby and when I came across the book on sale at Amazon, I simply had to snap it up! I’m reading this now and totally loving it!
That’s all I have on my reading list this week! Which books have you been reading? Please feel free to add to my TBR pile by giving your recommendations in the comments below!
