Every December I feel like time has flown by so fast that I can’t seem to remember what I’ve done the whole year! Is it the same for everyone?

I couldn’t conjure up an acceptance this month, but I hope the new year brings with it good news in the writing inbox!

It may seem like the lit mag world slows down during the approaching year-end and holiday season. But the plethora of submission calls suggests otherwise! There are still plenty of places you can send work to, so polish that piece and get going!

The Practicing Writer 2.0: December 2024

94 Calls for Submissions in December 2024 – Paying markets

57 Writing Contests in December 2024 – No entry fees

And there’s a few links I’ve bookmarked:

A useful round-up of submission trends over at Cincinnati Review

Did you know about The revolution in Irish literary journals?

I don’t use a lot of prompts but I liked this: Five Favorite Prompts by Tommy Dean at Flash Perspectives

This is one novel that I’ll surely be reading: 2024 Booker Prize: Samantha Harvey’s ‘Orbital’ is the first winning novel to be set in space

A wonderful thread filled with practical realities: This is how I’ve managed to write 20+ novels in the past nine years despite a full time job, being a mom of two kids, and suffering from serious mental health issues 1/

If the lit mag deities of Submission and Acceptance are kind to me, I will definitely post the news here. But if not, I will see you all in the next year!
