The Party’s Over

When the whole COVID-19 crisis unfolded, I braced myself for a long period of lockdown and working from home. I thought I was prepared but apparently not as well as I could’ve or should’ve been. The cooking and baking is done, online classes for school have started, and I’m ready to throw in the towel and resume normal life and schedules as soon as I possibly can, but unfortunately, the situation in the world and around me has only worsened. Even though restrictions are easing everywhere, its not likely we can venture outdoors like we used to, for some more time now.

Three months after I blogged about being about unable to write during this phase, things have settled somewhat. I wrote a story centered around the lockdown for the Roli Books Contest, and spent most of April writing it. I was quite happy with it as I liked the idea, and I was thrilled to discover that my story was one of the ten winners and will be featured in their anthology called Lockdown Longings!

Other than this, I have precious little to report on the writing front. I do what I can when I can, which is not much, but just enough to keep in touch (rhyme unintended!).

The lack of regular posts on this blog might have alerted readers that the creative juices are trickling rather than flowing, but I’m guessing the changed circumstances have affected everybody rather than just me.

I’ll be honest – I am rather looking forward to the day we can get back to the office. I never thought I’d say that, but the in-person interactions offer more value than we realize.
